"But most of all, stop thinking that what people so loathingly refer to as the “friendzone” is some sort of purgatory women put “nice guys” into. My friendship is not a crappy consolation prize that you’re left with if I deny you a sexual relationship– and my body is not your reward for good behavior."

So I call your name, cross my fingers
uncross the others, hesitate.
I don’t think straight with nothing to prove.

I don’t wanna say I’m leaving
so I’ll stay until the weekend.
And you can take all your things;
the boxes and rings
and get going.

Woman Proposes to Her Girlfriend During Hockey Game, Hearts Melt

Hockey is not generally known for producing heart-warming moments, but there was a notable exception at yesterday’s game between the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs. During a break in play, Alicia was brought out on the ice where her girlfriend Christina surprised her with a proposal and impressively managed to do the whole thing without falling down. Even though Christina is a Senators fan and Alicia was rooting for the Maple Leafs, Alicia said yes—as the mascot helpfully informed us with his sign—and the crowd went wild. Looks like there is yet another benefit to legalizing same-sex marriage: even more sports game proposals. Everybody wins.

I can’t recall, I don’t remember, I won’t reminisce. It isn’t there, but it should be. If I find it, I’ll quickly find some way to destroy it. Of few things am I certain, this is one.

It shouldn’t be.

Thoughts on Kony 2012

I’m always the first to applaud something that gets people talking, that distracts us from the mundane and that changes outdated thinking… but this may be more of the same.

Yes, it’s a wonderful idea, a beautiful example of the power each and every single one of us holds in this ever smaller world. A broad brush on a shrinking canvas. However, in order to realize the potential of anything as grandiose as the Kony 2012 campaign, one must examine, rationalize and simply… think.

Reactionary messages of support one way or the other can be just as damaging as what precedes it. Becoming a political activist overnight simply helps nobody, especially when these new soldiers’ first thought is to attack those who would encourage debate, study and understanding. All you can accomplish is a separation from those amongst you who could be your greatest allies.

I am not dismantling the great work done by the creators of the campaign, nor am I telling you it is unworthy of your time. Just the opposite. I do not care what your conclusion is, only that you reach it in a manner that satisfies the potential of your intellectual capabilities. Every opinion is worthy of equal measure and your compassionate understanding.

To stop someone or something like Kony, you cannot simply attack the man or destroy the barrier. You must eradicate the process, the ideas, the patterns that construct things so purely evil. To achieve victory, the horrible injustices in our world must be seen as beyond the capability of action, so awful that no one would dare speak them if they ever came to mind. Ideas are just as powerful as action. They both destroy tyrants and build communities. However, the opposite can often be the case in a much more rapid fashion if left in the hands of the reactionary.

Consider your thoughts before you consider your actions. Express yourself freely, you will find no gag order from me. I don’t intend to supply any supplementary material, as I am sure you will find links to all of it on your social network of choice, or simply at the end of your curiosity. I am already excited to see the conversation shifting from the popular norms of society.

It starts with you. It ends with all of us.

Murse aside, great look.

Right, because there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the Bruce Lee bowl cut, short sleeves, fastened bottom button or flared trousers.  All of that looks super, super dope.  Motherfucker looks like he’s auditioning for the original Hawaii Five 0.

Non-sign II is an installation by seattle based art collective Lead Pencil Studio located at the Canada-US border near Vancouver. The sculpture is made from small stainless steel rods that are assembled together to create the negative space of a billboard. While most billboards draw attention away from the landscape, Non-sign II frames the landscape, focusing attention back on it.

This is awesome.
